AI agents for software buying. Autonomy you dial.
Vera AI by VendorBenchmark puts agents on the work around every software contract: reading it, pricing it against comparable customers, watching the renewal and negotiating it. You set how far each agent goes, and a human analyst is a click away.
What an AI agent does in software buying.
An AI agent is software that reads your contracts, prices and usage, works out what matters, and acts on it inside limits you set. It does not replace the buyer. It takes the reading, the chasing and the first drafts off the buyer's desk, so the decisions get the attention.
It reads
Every contract, order form, quote and invoice, into products, prices, terms, limits and dates, with the page each fact came from.
It judges
The price against what comparable customers pay, the deployment against what you own, the renewal against the calendar.
It acts, within limits
It drafts, watches, negotiates and stages changes up to the ceiling you set. Committing a change is always a person's press.
Seven clusters of agents, one estate.
Each cluster has a guide and a set of articles, every one showing a real screen. Start with the job in front of you.
Autonomous renewals
Renewals watched every night, negotiated by email inside your mandate, closed with a person's signature.

Autonomy without limits is not something a CFO signs off. So it comes in settings, chosen by your owners, enforced on the server and recorded in the audit log.
On your screens: the workspace ceiling
Off
The agents talk you through. Nothing on your screens moves.
Show and explain
The agent points to the control and says why. You press.
Moves
The agent moves levers and opens windows, each move listed with Put it back.
Moves and staged changes
Changes are staged for you to keep or discard in one sitting.
The defaultQueued commits
Up to three proposals a night, each waiting for a person's press.
Earned, never grantedQueued commits unlocks only after a workspace holds zero misses across at least 20 verified moves in 30 days. Committing a change is always a person's press.
At the negotiating table: the mandate per vendor tier
Watch
The AI reads the renewal and reports. It writes to nobody.
Prepare and ask
It benchmarks, drafts the plan and the first email, and waits for you.
Negotiate and ask
It writes to the vendor and counters inside your floor and cap, then brings you the offer.
Negotiate and sign below the threshold
It accepts an offer inside your mandate and approval threshold, and your approver signs.
Stop it in one key. Read every move later.
The work moves while your team decides.
An illustrative day on a sample workspace. Each line is a real capability; the times are an example.
Reads every renewal inside the 120 day window against the benchmark library, worst first, up to 20 a night.
Each renewal carries a verdict, fine or needs you, with a replay of every move. Pick it up opens Vera on that renewal.
A vendor changes a price list. The change is held against the agreements on file, with the date that matters and the next action.
Vera joins the vendor call on Teams with the figures at hand, and files the minutes when it ends.
Drafts the counter inside the mandate and names itself as an AI to the vendor. The offer comes back to you.
A DocuSign envelope arrives. A two page brief with the benchmark and the policy check reaches the approvers you named.
You ask for the board update. It arrives as a deck and an Excel workbook, from your own estate.
The contract, the license position and the price, with agents on top.
Most teams keep these in three places: a contract system, a license tool and a spreadsheet or a consultant for the price. The agents need all three to judge a renewal, so Vera AI holds all three.
| The job | Where it usually lives | In Vera AI |
|---|---|---|
| Know what you signed | A contract repository, read by people | The Entitlement Agent reads every product, price, term and limit into one register |
| Know what you run | A license tool, a consultant, an audit | Agentless discovery builds the position every week; Same Day ELP checks one in 24 hours |
| Know the fair price | A spreadsheet, a consultant, a guess | The Benchmark Library across 1,471 vendors, the AI benchmark, an analyst within 24 hours |
| Run the renewal | Calendar reminders and email | The overnight drive, AI Managed and the Deal Agent, inside a mandate you set |
| Check before signature | A legal review queue | Vera in the Loop reads every DocuSign and Coupa offer on arrival |
| Explain it to the board | A deck built by hand | Report Studio writes 80 reports from your own estate, in Word, PowerPoint and Excel |
Real screens, not mockups.

The agent floor. Every agent live: what each reads, what it is doing and where its work lands, with what waits on you.

AI Managed. The negotiations in the AI's hands, the decisions waiting for you, and the rules it never breaks, on the same screen.

One Home. Every app as a card, each opening as its own window over the page, so a buyer moves from the benchmark to the contract to the renewal without losing the thread.
Five steps, the order Home shows them.

What buyers ask about AI agents.
What is an AI agent in software buying?
Software that reads your contracts, prices and usage, works out what matters, and acts on it inside limits you set: it reads, benchmarks, drafts, watches and negotiates, and brings you the decisions.
Can the agents negotiate a renewal on their own?
Yes, inside a mandate you set per vendor tier: watch, prepare and ask, negotiate and ask, or negotiate and sign below the threshold. By default the AI asks before it agrees. At the highest setting it may accept an offer inside your floor, cap and approval threshold and send the acceptance to your approver to sign. It never signs itself, never serves notice of non renewal and always names itself as an AI to the vendor.
How far can an agent go on our screens?
As far as your workspace owner allows: off, show and explain, moves, or moves and staged changes, which is the default. Queued commits is earned, never granted. Committing a change is always a person's press, and every driven action lands in the audit log.
Which vendors do the benchmarks cover?
1,471 vendors in the Benchmark Library, priced down to the product line. The library answers in seconds, the AI benchmark in 5 to 10 minutes, and a human analyst within 24 hours.
Is a human ever involved?
Whenever you want one. Ask a human sends any quote or contract to an analyst who answers by hand within 24 hours, and Same Day ELP puts two analysts on every license position.
Where should we start?
Upload your contracts. The Entitlement Agent reads every product, price, term and limit, the Contract Agent reads each contract clause by clause, the Benchmark Library prices them, the Spend Agent ranks where the money goes, and the Contract Office keeps each one to its renewal.
Put the agents on your estate. Keep every decision.
